iTunesControl 0.60 beta 4 released. This version added the option to mirror the display on all monitors. I'll be releasing the stable version of 0.60 in several weeks if there aren't any problems with this build.

iTunesControl 0.59 and 0.60 beta 1 released. Version 0.59 adds support for setting bold and italic formatting in the display, auto-refresh of the display, performance enhancements for the display, and a couple of bug fixes. Version 0.60 beta 1 adds support for specifying a static image instead of album art, the option to not show the display for tracks shorter than a given length, and improvements to support for media keys.

iTunesControl 0.59 beta 2 released. This version adds support for setting bold and italic formatting in the display and includes a couple bug fixes. This version, with any bug fixes needed, will be released as the stable 0.59 in several weeks.

I've investigated reports of crashes when running iTunesControl as a standard (non-administrator) user. Unfortunately, due to the way iTunesControl captures hotkeys, it is only possible to run it as an administrator.

I've gotten a report of persistent crashes when running as a standard user (i.e. not an administrator) on Windows 7. I'll look into this, but it would help if anyone else who has had this problem could email me.

iTunesControl 0.55 is available! This release includes fixes for four crashes, better handling of album art, and the ability to display ratings as shapes.

iTunesControl 0.55 Beta 1 is available! This release adds support for showing ratings as images and fixes for four crashes. All crash fixes are the result of data collected by the crash reporter that was included with the last version. Thank you to everyone who sent in crash reports, these fixes wouldn't have happened otherwise.

iTunesControl 0.54 is available! This release adds previews for ratings images, duplicate hotkey checking, support for multimedia keys on most remotes, improved support for multimedia keys on some keyboards, and a number of bug fixes for the display.

This month also marks the 6th anniversary of iTunesControl. I’d like to thank everyone who’s used iTunesControl over the last 6 years, especially those users who have sent in bug reports and feature suggestions. I wouldn’t have kept developing iTunesControl this long if it wasn’t for you.

iTunesControl 0.53 is available! This is a bug fix release that finally fixes the "Show/Hide iTunes" hotkey so that an extra window won't appear when it's used. I've had a few questions about iTunes 10 and Windows 7 compatibility. As always, iTunesControl remains compatible with all versions of iTunes since iTunes 4.6, and all version of Windows since Windows XP.

Due to a problem with the new hotkey system introduced in 0.51 Beta 3, I've released Beta 4 that just includes a fix for the hotkey problem. Everyone running 0.51 Beta 3 should update now.

iTunesControl 0.51 Beta 3 is now available! This version includes full support for always-shown displays, so displays that should be temporary, like volume change and pause notifications, will only cover the track information display temporarily. Also new is revamped hotkey support, including the ability to override the new hotkeys introduced in Windows 7 like Win + 1 and Win + P. Beginning with this release, I'm also including the utility required to translate the messages displayed by iTunesControl into languages other than English. I already have an offer for a German translation, but I'd appreciate help with any other languages.

iTunesControl is fully compatible with iTunes 9, the most recent version of iTunes. However, some people have reported that iTunesControl gives an error message when iTunes 9 is installed. This problem can be successfully resolved by repairing your iTunes installation from Add/Remove Programs. Any problems that this does not resolve should be reported to the contact email address.

A problem with the installer for 0.50 Beta 3 may have prevented it from installing updated files if it was installed over 0.50 Beta 2. An updated installer is available for those users affected.

The server that iTunesControl is hosted on was compromised last night, and for a short period of time iTunesControl.com may have been redirected to a malware page offering a "Web Accelerator". If you visited iTunesControl during that time and downloaded the malware I suggest you run a virusscan to ensure that your system is clean. Just to be clear, the iTunesControl downloads available here were not compromised, so this doesn't apply to anyone who downloaded iTunesControl yesterday.

iTunesControl 0.43 Beta 3 is available and fixes a problem with the Song Search feature that caused iTunesControl to become unresponsive when the song list was being updated. If you have a large music library and experienced problems with iTunesControl seeming to lag in 0.43 Beta 2, this update should fix those problems.

iTunesControl is fully compatible with iTunes 8, the most recent version of iTunes. However, some people have reported that iTunesControl begins crashing when iTunes 8 is installed.
